The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) has announced the opening of applications for Export Expansion Grants. These grants are intended to boost the export growth of dairy, meat, and crop products from Wisconsin.

"Gov. Evers recently introduced his fourth biennial budget, and he continues to lead the way on agriculture investments," stated DATCP Secretary Randy Romanski. "Today, on Ag Trade Day, DATCP and Gov. Evers are proud to announce these grants which will be another tool in Wisconsin exporter toolboxes."

Eligible applicants for these grants include not-for-profit organizations based in Wisconsin that currently serve or have the potential to serve agribusinesses within the state. This includes agribusiness associations, technical colleges, universities, and economic development organizations.

The grant program is divided into two categories: meat or crop exports with awards ranging from $25,000 to $50,000, and dairy exports with awards between $25,000 and $100,000. A 20% match of the grant award is required from recipients; this can be fulfilled through cash or in-kind contributions. Eligible expenses cover a range of activities such as travel for trade promotion activities, event promotion, marketing materials, advertising costs, subscriptions, contractor fees, and translation services.

Recipients will be chosen through a competitive review process conducted by DATCP. The projects are set to commence in May 2025 and must be completed by May 1, 2026.

For those interested in applying or seeking further information about the grants and application process can contact Kevin Webb at DATCP via phone at (608) 224-5049.

In collaboration with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), DATCP aims to promote Wisconsin's agricultural products internationally through WIAE.
