A federal grand jury in Madison, Wisconsin has indicted Robert Gilkey-Meisegeier, 30, of Madison on charges related to child pornography. The indictment alleges that Gilkey-Meisegeier produced and attempted to produce images of child pornography on May 16, 2025, and possessed such images on June 1, 2025.

Chadwick M. Elgersma, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced the indictment. According to the announcement: "If convicted of either of the production related charges, Gilkey-Meisegeier faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 15 years in prison and a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison. The possession count carries a maximum penalty of 10 years."

The investigation was conducted by several agencies including the Sun Prairie Police Department, University of Wisconsin Police Department, Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Julie Pfluger is prosecuting the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood (PSC), which brings together federal, state, and local resources to address child sexual exploitation online and identify victims. More information about this initiative can be found at https://www.justice.gov/psc.

Authorities remind the public: "You are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty."
