Scott Walker, the former Governor of Wisconsin, said that the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC) supports gerrymandering in favor of Democrats, citing its IRS filings. This statement was made on the social media platform X.

"What a load of crap," said Scott K Walker. "This group that he supports and Eric Holder runs is all about gerrymandering that benefits Democrats. Their 990 form that they file with the IRA says as much when you read their mission."

In 2025, redistricting battles intensified across the United States as Democrats relied on the NDRC to counteract Republican-drawn maps in states such as Texas and Ohio. Barack Obama headlined a fundraiser on August 19 to support NDRC efforts following Utah’s court-ordered redraw and new GOP proposals in Texas that added several Republican-leaning districts. According to Politico, this event underscored NDRC’s pivotal role in Democratic legal and political strategy.

Ballotpedia reports that at least 13 states might redraw congressional boundaries before the 2026 midterms due to ongoing lawsuits and legislative actions. Texas Republicans advanced a map creating five GOP-leaning seats, while courts in California, Louisiana, and Ohio continue to review challenges. These developments highlight how redistricting outcomes could significantly alter the partisan balance in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Data from OpenSecrets indicates that the National Democratic Redistricting PAC raised approximately $1.95 million during the 2023–24 election cycle, with funds allocated for legal and political advocacy. On the Republican side, organizations like the National Republican Redistricting Trust and GOP redistricting PACs raised similar amounts, illustrating how both parties maintain parallel financial structures for map battles. These figures are based on filings with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) and IRS.

Walker served as governor of Wisconsin from 2011 to 2019 after previously holding positions as Milwaukee County executive and a state assemblyman. After leaving office, he became president of Young America’s Foundation in 2021, where he leads conservative youth outreach and campus free-speech initiatives. His career is characterized by a focus on fiscal conservatism, education reform, and movement leadership according to Young America’s Foundation.
